Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique where a Reiki practitioner uses different hand placements either on your body or slightly above your body to activate the body's natural ability to heal. It is a very effective method of energy healing. Reiki goes where it is needed and goes to the root cause of any "dis-ease" you may be experiencing and works on all levels: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Reiki is a complementary or alternative health approach. It does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. Instead, it’s used as a way to improve general well-being and promotes the removal of energy blocks and imbalances to bring you into a calmer, healthier way of life. Deriving the term from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy, that flows through all living things. Reiki is practiced all over the world in clinics, hospitals, yoga studios, wellness centre, spas, resorts and even in corporate offices. It is calming, relaxing and many find themselves so deeply relaxed they fall asleep during sessions. The form of Reiki that is practiced at Ocean Bay Wellness and predominately throughout the world today, is also known as Usui Ryoho Reiki. It was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, pictured here in the early 20th century.

What to expect
Using Reiki hand placements above or gently on your body, the Reiki practitioner will use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support natural healing. You will be invited to sit or lie down fully clothed, to a relaxing holistic healing session. Meditative music is played as the Reiki energy flows through your body and clears energy blocks. You will then begin to relax and truly experience Reiki. The 60 minute option is more of an in depth healing session where different types of holistic or "alternative medicine" like aromatherapy, sound healing or crystals may be used. Each practitioner may use different methods which can be discussed at the time of booking or at the initial meeting.

Reiki Circles or Reiki Shares are fun and informative community nights were Reiki enthusiasts, practitioners and master teachers come together to share in a beautiful evening of Reiki healing. Each person has the opportunity to give and receive beautiful, natural healing Reiki.
The Reiki Shares are held once a month and everyone is welcome but do require advance registration.
The cost is $25 and includes tea, water, a healing meditation, sacred circle and of course the Reiki healing circle.
